the gaines family cut out ALL of their business partners from their house flipping business when they got their tv deal so they would not have to share the profits, then used their newfound BILLIONS to make sure their former business partners could not sue.

the wife's korean mother bonded with her father over Scripture, and that provided a wonderful marketing opportunity for selling "twee" model homes infested with throw pillows, old rotting wood, and rusty metal nailed to the wall.

the husband being a cartoon character hiding a smug "peaked in high school" persona was "relatable" and got the same reaction wageslaves had to the show "the office" but for nagging rural housewives: "it's just like my workplace / home!"

their nominal, always small-c "christianity" has only ever been to sell dropshipped chinese products to white women who wanted "proven safe" as they walked through a target store. stores who for some reason have GIANT lingerie sections right in the center of every store with grotesque banners of naked chubby girls like it's the flags of a conquering army or the icons of a state religion.

the fact that the couple got to be worshiped as "gods" by potemkin common people who would otherwise only worship republican politicians was just a bonus on top of them being "big fish in a small pond."

I know that protestants (and especially protestant women) have the survival instincts of an unbaptized small child with a demon whispering in their ear; but come on.
