In April, Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford, some of the chief architects of the 2024 Dungeons & Dragons editions, announced they would be retiring from Wizards of the Coast. Now, Jess Lanzillo, vice-president of D&D has announced she’s doing the same.

Dungeons & Dragons has been in serious trouble ever since fans noticed that the 2024 edition of the tabletop roleplaying game stripped back a lot of the core elements that made the game fun in the name of progressive politics. The Dungeon Master’s Guide was revealed to have fetish “safeword” language inserted in, the Player’s Handbook featured tons of cringy imagery of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ coded characters, and the Monster’s Manual removed Orcs as a traditional villain in an apparent attempt to “combat racism.”

As a result, this edition did not sell well, and Wizards of the Coast has been scrambling ever since.
