Fantasy Book Influencers React To Daniel Greene Allegations As His Discord Mods Cut Ties And Rebrand His Server

Yesterday, Fantasy News Booktuber Daniel Greene came under fire from YouTube musician Naomi King, who alleged sexual assault. Now, he’s dealing with fall out from Dragonmount, One Piece Podcast, Merphy Napier, and his own Discord moderators rebelling against him.

Daniel Greene is a BookTube influencer with more than 500,000 subscribers, famous for his Fantasy News segments as well as discussions of Wheel of Time and One Piece. He’s written his own books in successful crowdfunds and championed left-wing social justice causes and feminism through his channel.

Naomi King dropped a bombshell video yesterday detailing sexual assault allegations against YouTube fantasy book influencer Daniel Greene. It was a thirty-four-minute video that went over a cease and desist letter his lawyer allegedly wrote to her in 2023, not only bringing her accusation to light but also another based on a screenshot from 2016.

Immediately, long-time collaborators with the BookTuber began to turn o him, posting their virtue signaling almost immediately.

One Piece Podcast wrote to X, “In light of recent events we will not be inviting Daniel Greene back on the show for further guest appearances. Additionally, we have removed his past appearances from our podcast feed, YouTube, and Patreon.”

In addition, Dragonmount, a Wheel of Time fan site also posted regarding the situation in more vague terms, “In this house, we believe survivors of sexual assault and stand with you. Find resources at: https://nsvrc.org and https://rainn.org”

BookTuber Merphy Napier quickly jumped on the bandwagon as well with a post to her community tab to let her audience know she’s deleted her collaborative videos saying:

After watching Naomi’s recent video, I’ve unlisted all collab videos I’ve done with Daniel Greene.

These are very serious accusations (backed by very serious evidence in my opinion) and listening to what Naomi endured is devastating.

Daniel has been a friend of mine for years, so the shock of this news has been painful to process to say the least. Naomi had a very raw breakdown in this video and I’ve been grieved over the pain they’ve carried quietly. But I want the emphasis on Naomi, so I have the video linked. Naomi’s emotions while recounting what happened are raw and heartbreaking. The impact these actions have on survivors doesn’t fade, and sharing publicly is extremely painful. Daniel hasn’t responded to the accusations yet, and more discussions may be warranted as more information is revealed. But I think it’s important to say something and make sure Naomi is heard

In his Discord server, new invites are temporarily turned off, and it started with an innocuous statement, as moderator Gazi said, “We are all aware of the allegations made against Daniel. We take these extremely seriously, and we as mods and admins are discussing it internally.”

The person continued, “We will make another statement as soon as we have agreed on the next steps, and have a greater understanding of all that has occurred.”

They concluded, “We ask for your patience, and we hope that our actions and stances in past situations will give you faith in our judgement on this.”

That judgement came not long later in a much longer, scrawling post elaborating “The entire mod team stands with Naomi and fully supports them.”

At that point, it was announced that there were plans to rebrand Daniel Greene’s server into something else, but he currently owns the server, which makes it difficult. The mod team threatened Greene that they would revolt and start their own server if he did not allow them to do so.

Within 24 hours, the server was indeed changed to “SFF Central,” reflecting science fiction and fantasy.

The Discord moderators completely abandoned Greene and threw him under the bus based on one video.

Greene has been completely silent so far on social media and on his YouTube channel. Discord Moderators said in their statement that he had not contacted them at the time of their revolt.
