I am failing to see how the description, “The Orc city smoldered," is worthy of any ridicule. It reads accurately for setting the stage in Mr. Douglas' novel. I reckon this is just typical x user hatred, overreaction and illiteracy at play. That being said, will you take me down to The Orc City where the grass is brown and the girls all smolder?

Excuse me ... take me down to new Orc city where the girls are green and the grass is gritty.

The critics don't realize how much free marketing they're providing for the author.

That's hilarious. It's a one sentence, pithy, epigram for the orcs and their city. That makes it a great setup for "are you sure we got them all?" and a story to follow. Wild swing and miss, from the memes generated.

Brings another song to mind:

"Orc City, get out the mace!

Orc City, smash the Elf's face!"

The silly thing is that because in the excerpt the word 'city' hasn't got a capital I took it to mean it was a city full of Orcs, rather than an actual place called Orc City. So yeah, I'm think the guy who mentioned it as some kind of 'gotcha' actually made himself look stupid. He's probably just a rabid Kojima fan.

Even the memeing uses 'Orc City' but that's not how it was written. It would be the same as saying 'the Human city', or 'the Elf city' meaning a city inhabited by those races, rather than it being the name of the city itself.

Still, at least some fun came from it despite the original poster who caused it having anything but good intentions ;)

You can't buy this kind of marketing for a million bucks. I'll bet his sales are insane.

I’m baffled how haters can be so dyslexic. How do they get a proper noun from an improper noun spelling? This is why AI assisted writing is the future. Because these purple haired harpies can’t write without it. Lol.

I got a good laugh out of this and it is nice to see that Razorfist's anime racism remains strong.

Isn't Douglas one of those fags pretending Orcs are 'just regular people too' and they just are misunderstood?

This author throwing shade at Kojima for embracing very comic book and manga camp that is entirely entertaining and enjoyable is p corny on his part. (Same to Razor too, but he’s doing it to be a hipster contrarian, since he also adamantly thinks Aliens is a bad film) This author would never be as clever to write and direct something like MGS2 which predicted the coming information wars and be one of the premier stealth action games of its time.

But the OP starting this meme war picked the most average passage he could find, when the cover is more worthy of mockery when it looks like a lazy photoshop slop job. Making memes of that made more sense.
