I'm cautiously optimistic that Gunn will stick with the heart of the character and the lore on this movie. If they change too much, the DCU is sunk. They can't afford the backlash.

No one can afford the backlash these days. If I were producing these titles I would make damn sure that the core audience are satisfied and leave the cinema begging for more.

How does this situation change knowing that the kind of people running the show are hell bent on sticking with their ideological rampage?

Hopefully the money people start demanding a return on investment. You can ideologue all you want but the bills have to be paid. Unfortunately, the Left doesn't care about the IP they're destroying to propagate "the message".

Maybe the backlash has already begun? https://www.zerohedge.com/political/disney-cuts-transgender-storyline-new-pixar-childrens-series

Maybe the money men can 'oblige' the people working in the industry to behave themselves but the industry has been saturated from top to bottom with these ideologies.

I don't know why alternative systems can't be set up in this day and age with new franchises and fresh ideas. Surely the money would follow.

It's going to take folks with money to recognize that investing in traditional values through the arts will eventually bring back those returns. It's a giant ship that's lost it's way. We won't be able to reverse course on a dime but turn that rudder the right way and eventually your money is going to start working for you again.

I'm also cautiously optimistic. I want there to finally be a great Superman film, for there to finally be a good or even great core of Justice League movies, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman for sure. Whether any studio like Warner Brothers can keep their hands off and let it be made is another story. James Gunn has shown he can tell great stories; now he has to prove he can tell a great Superman story.

Agreed. The fans are starving for our favorite things to be respected on screen. It's not hard. Adapt the best stories from the comics and we'll pay to see it over and over again. Gunn can definitely tell a good story. Just make sure it's a good Superman story. Crazy that we have to ask for it out loud, right?
