Odyssey is the 2nd-Best-Selling in the series' history, but with only 1.4 million copies sold in its First Week, it ranks 8th in the series. That's less than Unity and Origin, and less than half of the 3.52 million copies of Assassin's Creed 3, which is the 2nd place. Valhalla as known as 1st.

This means Odyssey's Pre-Orders numbers are very low than others, which means that when Odyssey's Pre-Orders numbers are similar to Shadows' Pre-Orders numbers, it actually means that Shadows' Pre-Orders are very low too.

It’s wild how many people just sign up for this slop before even seeing the game, because they had a good time in an AC game a decade ago.

The number of copies sold doesn’t mean much when they get discounted to $20 by the end of the first year. So they need to sell 4x as many copies to make up for the release day slump because gamers aren’t willing to pay $70-120 for a typically unfinished “AAA” game. Odyssey likely sold well later on because it was bundled at a discount with other AC games in holiday sales events. This will be the case for Shadows as well.

One can only hope this is untrue, and that preorders are lower. If gamers do not rise up and spurn this garage, they're going to keep on being fed one turd sandwich after another.

This could very well be true; we all know the casuals aren't paying attention to the background fights for games like this. They don't know about fat lady sumo and offensive shrine gate depictions and gay samurai, and it's a given at this point that no AC fan actually cares about depictions of real history. So yeah, I could see the numbers hitting Odyssey levels, especially with overseas sales.

That said, current-day Ubisoft is a wretched hive of scum and villainy; paying for useful press accounts is the least of their potential deceptions. We'll have to see what happens, but at this point I wouldn't be surprised either way.
