Head of Microsoft Gaming Phil Spencer confirmed that multiple projects are being shut down amid massive layoffs affecting the company. This Substack is reader-supported.
Yo Fuck Microsoft and Xbox and Phil. They all made gaming worse. They were the 1st who started forcing people to pay to play online games. They forced their shit OS into every PC store with their OEM scam tactics, they ruined Perfect Dark, they've shut COUNTLESS studios down. I hope all these Xfags choke and die to be honest.
I think this marks the beginning of Microsoft's exit from dedicated Xbox hardware, they'll keep the brand alive, but it will be greatly deprioritized in my opinion. Microsoft went from a office productivity company with Windows (especially Windows NT) to an entertainment company starting in 1995 with the release of DirectX 1.0, this culminated in the Xbox in 2001.
Now Microsoft is going from an entertainment company to an AI company. The company can make more money running AI programs than they can cater to gamers. I'm hoping most of the DEI and corporate espionage people have been purged, but I'm going to miss having a dedicated Xbox console in the future, and it'll be weird seeing Xbox games on different platforms.
This might be the last big Xbox layoff for awhile, unless The Outer Worlds 2 does poorly.
Corporate speak for "we lost our USAID propaganda funding and have to cope."
Imagine the profits they’d make if they fired everyone! Yuuuuge!
