James Gunn’s Superman film is being blasted for depicting men in the film, including Superman, as weak and constantly crying. This Substack is reader-supported.
It is woke. Deconstruction is part of Cultural Marxism. Instead of Class warfare it's based on more immutable things like race, and gender 'inequality. That's why intersectional feminism (Which this Superman movie has in HEAPS) is the main weapon here, it's meant to put Clark in his place, this is why he constantly needs saving and is the most effeminate version of the character we've seen. 'Tear down the king to build up the queens'. It's classic commie bullshit.
We just saw it; this is a case of using facts to tell a lie. Only someone who's predisposed to hate the movie, or thinks men somehow never have or show emotion, would have his takeaway. "Oh no! Clark's dad loves him! THAT'S GAY." Come on, man. Does Jeremy have kids? Does he love his kids? And he *never* cries when he's proud of them or afraid for them?
The men in the film aren't weak, they aren't always crying, they aren't woke, they aren't cucked. The women aren't stronger or unemotional, and they never girlboss. Go see it, and make up your own mind. You may like it, you may not, but when it comes to the "weak men" stuff, I just saw it and I'm telling you Jeremy is wrong.
Nope. At least not the way it's been described. I'm going to mostly avoid spoilers, but anyone reading should be aware that MILD SPOILERS follow:

- There is absolutely no groin kicking from Supergirl. Superman does take a blink-and-you'll-miss-it crotch shot, but it's in a big fight with another male super.
- Supergirl does show up as advertised, briefly, and she does say "bitch", but it's more like a "later, bitch" kind of thing, not a "you (personally you, Superman) are a bitch" comment. It's 100% not a girlboss moment; the whole scene is meant to show that she's rude and, in this universe, disreputable. She's Kal-El's obnoxious teen Gen Z relative, the kind we're all meant to roll our eyes at.
Again, trying to avoid spoilers, but no, you don't got it. He isn't kicked in the balls, and he isn't "called" a bitch. Those things didn't have the tone you're suggesting or expecting. Supes fans offended by those things as they appear in the film *want* to be offended, for whatever reason. They don't lessen our boy in blue at all, and they aren't meant to.
Now there was a pro immigration thing, but it was fairly subtle, and plausible, and plausibly deniable. I did not like that as I am a 'They All Have to Go Back' sort.
It was *so* minor though. Still, if you look carefully you can see where it was much more prominent, and then got cut, probably due to test audience backlash. Likewise I think Luthor probably had a lot more anti-immigrant dialog queued up before it got cut.
That said, I was pretty happy with the end product.
This is pretty much what I'd expect from a James Gunn movie. Not wasting my time with it.
So maybe not woke, but comprehensively retarded in its storytelling craftsmanship?

P.S. Not sure if it's my computer or your settings: either way, could you set your paywall stories to allow non-payers to hit the like button?
Were I able to afford a subscription, I would, and when I see an article that I wish I could read, it'd be great to hit "like" and show support.

Isn't the last scenes of superman getting kicked in the groin and supergirl calling him a "bitch?"

So Superman is kicked in the balls and he is called a bitch. Got it. Thanks for confirming. lol. This movie sounds like trash.

Yep. AJ is right here.

We're not shocked.
We are vindicated. Yet again.
